a note to you, world

Saturday was such a wonderful day. I spend the morning with a stop to see my little nephew, who is officially the coolest guy I know, although having quite a crabby day. Then, I kidnapped Rye the blue heeler and took her up to Humphrey's to do a climb.  The trail was absolutely packed though, so we resulted in doing a little hike-run on the Kachina trail. It was absolutely beautiful and I wouldn't have chosen to do this mini adventure with anyone else! I need to spend more time with her...

Following a bit of Allyce and Rye time, I went home and worked on my drawings that I've been doing. I'm so happy with my productivity lately. I know I'm saying that just about every day, but I can't say it enough! The work that is coming from this room is just something that I didn't know I was capable of. It really makes me want to pursue art more and just give up on all of the stuff I studied in college. (Don't get upset Mom and Dad, I think I'm too much of a realist to do this!)

In the afternoon, I ventured over to New Frontier's to get some strawberries, pecans, and spinach to complete my salad that I was bringing to my friend Karen's house. I made a strawberry, goat cheese, pecan spinach salad with balsamic to top it off! Yum! Karen made some super tasty food though- including scallops, maple bacon mashed potatoes and some garlicky asparagus.  Prior to the awesome food we consumed, we spent an hour or so at the pool, complete with mojitos. Then our little selves went and tried on my dresses that I had brought for prom... ugh. Such a disaster. Have you ever had that dress that almost fits, but you ate too many chips and salsa about 15 minutes before you were trying to put it on and now its physically impossible? Well, yeah, that's what happened. So I kind of said "screw it", I'll wear whatever I feel like.  It gave us a good laugh though- trying to come up with new creative ways to try to get this damn dress on. I think it was worth the 6 dollars at goodwill after some good laughs... and it will fit again after I digest a bit...

Here are some snippets from the rest of my day...

So the rest of these are from Adult Prom, at the Orpheum downtown. It was a pretty good time, for the whole hour or so that I spent there. I was sad that I wasn't in formal attire. Next year, maybe...
